While the end of the season is looming in Ligue 1, the title is not yet played. If PSG still have a six-point lead over Lens and OM, the future of Christophe Galtier is very vague and his ability to manage his locker room is in question.
Coaching PSG is not easy. It is also very complicated. Whether it’s Tuchel, Emery, Pochettino or Galtier, recently everyone has had problems. But Christophe Galtier, a reference in France but without experience on the European scene, is probably the one who had the most difficulty managing a locker room with so many stars. Manager Kylian Mbappé, Neymar and Lionel Messi when we only trained AS Saint-Étienne, Lille or Nice, it’s a real challenge. Add to that the demands of the capital club and the egos of other executives and the bill is (very) salty. According to information from RMC Sport, Galtier has two games (Lens and Nice) to restore the image of PSG. If the team were to lose both games, Galtier would probably be dismissed.
Dropped by his locker room, Galtier is on a wire
In addition to this sword of Damocles which hovers above the French technician, the Parisian management strongly questions his ability to lead a locker room like that of PSG. Training, talks and compositions are sometimes misunderstood by some important players of the club. The management of the Lionel Messi case has also weakened the relationship between the coach and his players. Galtier in particular disappointed a lot following disappointments by sometimes blaming the young players of the team, rather than putting the blame on confirmed executives and not at the level this season. If Galtier has a small chance of staying in Paris if he wins Ligue 1, he might also remain in place if PSG fail to find him a worthy successor. Several avenues have been discussed but nothing is concrete yet. The objective remains to win the championship this time, Galtier no longer has the right to make mistakes and will have to prove that he is at the level of the club which achieves with eight defeats in 2023, its worst start to the year since 2001 .
