Paris Saint-Germain have sent their loyal supporters a video to promote their renewal campaign at the Parc des Princes next season. Kylian Mbappé is at the center of this communication, while Neymar and Lionel Messi are conspicuous by their absence. A choice far from trivial.
It is a detail that is not one. While the presence of Lionel Messi and Neymar in the Parisian project has never been so discussed, PSG sent its subscribers a video on Wednesday to promote its re-subscription campaign at the Parc des Princes in which the two former Barça … n do not appear.
In this clip available on Youtube in unlisted video, Kylian Mbappé is at the center of PSG’s communication. The French striker, sitting in the stands of the Parc des Princes, is thus the only one to speak. He praises in particular the importance of the support of the supporters in a speech interspersed with illustrative images in which appear the young players of the workforce (Ismaël Gharbi, Warren Zaire-Emery, Nuno Mendes) … but not the other two elements of the MNM.
“The atmosphere, the ground, the atmosphere… The Parc des Princes envelops a lot of things, it is the 12th man, it is what brings us additional strength to fight our battles, declares Mbappé in particular. Being Parisian, it’s to be proud, of what we are, of what we represent, proud to be ambitious, to want to do things, a desire to win, to always surpass ourselves and never forget where we come from come.”
A clue on the future of Messi and Neymar?
This choice to only put Mbappé forward and to voluntarily forget Messi and Neymar is absolutely nothing trivial. It once once more demonstrates a desire to center the project around the Frenchman, as already proven by its extension with great fanfare almost a year ago. It can also be interpreted as a clue to the future of the other two stars.
As reported by RMC Sport this week, Messi, at the end of the contract, will not be a Parisian next season unless there is a big turnaround. At PSG, the investment of the player, whistled by part of the public at the Parc des Princes last Sunday once morest Lyon (1-0 defeat), is called into question.
Neymar, absent until the end following a new ankle injury, is for his part linked to PSG until 2027. But the Brazilian, whom the club would have sought to get rid of during the last off-season, is still not not in the odor of holiness in the capital. His departure, combined with that of Messi, might allow Paris to reduce its payroll and rebuild a workforce around Mbappé, visibly more than ever at the center of the Parisian project.
