A recent government decision authorizing aIncrease in the price of the raw material charged by yerba mate producers generated concern in the industrial and commercial chains of the sector, which warned that the measure might hit the gondolas and cause a further drop in consumption.
This is Resolution 107/2023 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, published in the Official Gazette and which enables a sDirect vape to yerbateros, which improves the profit margin of producersbut in an inflationary context, it complicates the industry complex that processes and markets yerba mate in the country.
In the industrial and commercial chains there is concern, since this increase should be transferred to the retail price, so the package of yerba mate in the gondolas might go up to 40 percent in the short term.
That is, consumers will be affected. Even in recent months, according to industry sources, yerba mate sales have declined.

It is expected that starting in April, the raw material for yerba mate will experience a increase of 71% until next September. The rise will be staggered in three stages, with a first jump of 52.7%, according to the official resolution.
The regulations establish that until next April 30 the ton of green leaf drying will cost $107.000 and the ton of yerba mate canchada put in the dryer, $406.600.
In turn, as of May 1, the ton of green leaf placed in the dryer will have a value of $112.000 and the ton of yerba mate canchada put in the dryer, of $425.600.
The same resolution indicates that from July 1, the ton of green leaf put in the dryer will cost $120.000 and the ton of yerba mate canchada put in the dryer, $456.000. The rule extends until September 30 inclusive.
