Origin

Underweight can be caused by living conditions (socio-economic, famines), psychiatric morbidities (anorexia nervosa), typical pathologies bowel disease (malabsorption), type 1 diabetes, genetics, heredity, morphology, etc. I’OMS speaks of being underweight when the body mass index (IMC) is between 15 and 18.5.

Treatment

Faced with such a subject, we will only focus on a few therapeutic avenues to stimulate the appetite. Confronted with underweight, weight gain can become an obsession. But three rations of pasta, two sticks of buttered bread a day will do nothing. If your parents are thin, it is unlikely that you will be different from them (within a few kilos). There is a simple standard, the weight corresponds to what exceeds the meter (of your height), minus 10%. That is to say, if you are 1.80 m tall, your ideal weight will be 72 kg (80-8). Already, Practice sports regularly and without excess (weight training) will give you muscle mass and therefore weight.

Feed

Diet plays a key role in weight gain. Make sure your digestive assimilation is perfect. For this, know that the index remains observing your stool : 500 to 800 g of molded, brown and easily passed stools daily without noise and odor are the norm.

Your meals will be taken at regular times. Portions will be more generous provided you chew well and slowly. Meals should be balanced. A protein (animal or vegetable 100/150 g) with a seasonal and regional vegetable to accompany lunch. Soft, semi-complete cereals (100 g) and legumes (80 g) at dinner. If you know lacto-fermented vegetables and proteins (there is no milk), do not hesitate to eat it. The “sweet” (fruits, desserts) is consumed alone, outside meals, at 11 a.m. (snack) and 5 p.m. (snack). Not following 5 p.m., nor at the end of a meal (bloating)! Drink as much as you eliminate (aim for at least 4-6 voids/day). If you have “snake sweat”, i.e. you hardly sweat, no need to force yourself to drink the endless 1.5 liters of water a day!

Phytotherapy

In herbal medicine, opt for spirulinawhose many virtues will energize the body (2 capsules at breakfast).

Gentian and fenugreek together stimulate the appetite with one capsule each before the two main meals.

aromatherapy

Aromatherapy offers us a major essential oil (EO), that of linalool thyme (Thymus vulgaris linaloliferum) to eliminate microbes, parasites, viruses that might hinder the good digestive functioning (therefore assimilation). Massage 2 drops on the wrists (1 for teenagers) for twenty-one days.

Homeopathy

In homeopathy, Psorinus is the master remedy of foie, so spring. Take a dose of 9 CH / week for four weeks, then a dose of 15 CH every fortnight (for a month) at the end of the morning. Thinness or inability to gain weight (to be differentiated from anorexia nervosa) is not without psychological effects (stress, anxiety). I advise you for this reason 5 granules in 9 CH d’Ignatia amara at bedtime, which will lessen these deleterious effects on your body. If, despite two months of this natural health program, the effects are delayed, you can renew it following fifteen days of interruption.
