The bailiffs were quick to arrive at the Zellik depot where Delhaize workers launched a new blockage on Wednesday evening. According to our information, they arrived shortly following 9 p.m. at the distribution center site.
The objective of this action is to block the entrances and exits of the trucks which should normally deliver tonight and tomorrow morning to the group’s stores, in anticipation of the Easter weekend. A weekend that promises to be busy for mass distribution.
There would be 300 people on the spot, grouped into two pickets. The workers initially hoped to hold out all night. But their plan was disrupted by the early arrival of bailiffs sent by Delhaize management. This one thus tries to put an end to the blocking, by noting the presences, constraints with the key. At 10:50 p.m., the staff was still present in large numbers, according to a trade union source. It is precisely the strong mobilization that would allow for the moment to prevent the lifting of the picket line.
