The million-dollar work on the second line to provide energy to Bariloche would begin before winter

The tender to build the second 132 kV high voltage line from Alicurá to reinforce the supply of this city, Dina Huapi and to connect Villa La Angostura advanced this Wednesday a new step with the opening of economic offers, and the commitment of the officials to sign the contract as soon as possible and guarantee the beginning of the works before winter.

The complete investment amounts to regarding 75 million dollars and will be faced by the national government. The event held in a hotel in this city was attended by the governor of Rio Negro Arabela Carreras, the president of the Neuquén EPEN Francisco Zambón and the mayor of Bariloche Gustavo Gennuso, among other authorities.

The opening of the envelopes with the technical proposals had already been carried out in this city on February 16, with the presence of the Secretary of Energy of the Nation, Flavia Royón.

Currently there is already a similar line from Alicurá, which guarantees a conditioned service to Bariloche. In fact Yesterday at noon there was a 20-minute general power outage throughout the city due to a fault in that pipeline.

The second line will make it possible to reinforce the provision and dispense with alternative thermal generation. Also will serve to integrate La Angostura into the national interconnected system, replacing the current isolated supply system located in that city, which demands large amounts of fossil fuel.

The latter was highlighted by the Secretary of Energy Andrea Confini, who said that the work will put an end to power cuts like the one that Bariloche suffered yesterday and also “overcome fuel burning”, in times when “everyone is discussing how to deal with climate change”.

A dozen interested companies

Lthe bidding is disaggregated into several blocks, for those who offered a dozen companies. The main lot is the construction of a 108-kilometer high-voltage line from the Alicurá hydroelectric plant to Dina Huapi, for which the joint venture made up of IPE Energía and Edvsa was quoted; Tel3 SA, Cartellone SA with Vial Agro SA and Lesko with Semisa.

Other packages included in the complementary tenders are aimed at build a transformer station in Dina Huapi and ensure the provision of new equipment to expand existing capacity.

Governor Carreras referred to her background as a Bariloche official and councilor (with aspirations to return as mayor) to point out that the realization of the second line addresses a long-standing claim of the city and the entire region.

He recalled that in Bariloche there had been a general reproach for years for “forgetting” the province and the Nation. “We felt like we were rowing alone,” he said.. He said that the claim for works and better services “was not only for the Barilochenses but for the million tourists that the city receives every year.”

He also assured that the Andean city, the largest in the province, it needs more energy to “diversify its productive matrix”. According to Carreras, this point began to be resolved “from the government of Alberto Weretilneck and now this work is added, which means a strong commitment from the national State.”

He indicated that the expansion of the hospital with 12,500 new square meters and the incorporation of more beds and services (which would be ready by the end of the year) as well as the future bus terminal, the technology park and the greater demand of the airport, They put pressure on the installed capacity of electricity supply and demand new investments.

Mayor Gennuso also appreciated the progress of the tender. “It is one more step and it is important,” he assured. It is a structural and crucial issue for the city. We had to fight a lot and it is part of the future of Bariloche”.
