A joint trade union communiqué between the Confederation of Democratic Labor and the Democratic Labor Organization revealed that port users will go on a general strike next Monday, to protest “the marginalization of working people and the failure to implement the outputs of the central social dialogue in the sector.”

The users threatened to paralyze all ports in Morocco “if their demands are not met” by the management of the National Ports Agency, which they accuse of ignoring their file.

In a letter addressed to the administration, the two aforementioned unions criticized the existence of “an atmosphere of tension and frustration among all working people due to the failure to activate any of the outputs of the recent social dialogue.”

The trade union source stressed its adherence to the demands of the working people and dealing with them positively, foremost of which is “the retroactive increase in wages at least since January 1, 2022, the disbursement of the grant of the new basic law to the foundation’s collaborators, and the retroactive involvement in the supplementary retirement fund RECORE since January 2017.”

In the midst of this, port users in Morocco continue to carry the badge throughout this week, as a preliminary protest step before escalating the national strike.
