Sony might return to manufacturing portable consoles, but not as many might be expecting. A report by Tom Henderson points out that Sony is already in development of the new device.
Its code name is Q Lite and its objective will be to be another piece of hardware to accompany the PlayStation 5, similar to what we see with the PlayStation VR2. He mentions that it is not an independent console like the PSP or PS Vita were at the time, requiring a home console to work.
The console will use the remote play for connect to the PS5 and be able to play games via Wi-Fi on the go. The important thing is that they clarify that it will not use cloud transmission, everything will be directly from the console’s connectivity.
The console will be able to offer 1080p resolution with 60 frames per second, but a permanent internet connection will be required.
Regarding its design, they comment that it will be similar to a DualSense but with an eight-inch touch screen placed in the center. The device will also include buttons for volume, connecting a headset, in addition to maintaining haptic functions.
The device comes hand in hand with the second phase of the PS5 that Sony supposedly has in hand, launching a PS5 Pro by 2024, but before that a PS5 that does not have a disc drive and can be purchased separately. The handheld is expected to get its announcement soon and also appear on sale before the Pro version of the console.
