China Badminton Club Badminton League kicks off Zhejiang team “relegated” to participate in the training team

On April 5th, the Chinese Badminton Club’s Second Division League kicked off at Hangzhou Binjiang Gymnasium, attracting a total of 13 teams and nearly 200 athletes from all over the country to participate. Champion, the overall level is relatively high. The competition will continue until April 9, and the final champion will have the only chance to be promoted.

Although it is not a top-level event, the Second Division is also an important part of the Chinese Badminton Association’s league system. The mixed team competition system tests the overall strength of each team. It is understood that the Chinese Badminton Club League B started in 2019 and is one of the important achievements of the substantial reform of the Chinese Badminton Association. Being able to participate, and amateur players and professional athletes compete on the same stage, will help expand the badminton population and inject new vitality into the development of badminton in China.

Badminton is a traditional advantage of Zhejiang Sports. Zhejiang Sports Club usually participates in the higher-level Badminton Super League. This is the first time to sign up for the second-tier league. The purpose of “relegation” is to give young players more opportunities to compete. On the morning of the first match day, the Zhejiang team, which was playing at home, defeated the Shaanxi team cleanly with a total score of 5-0 and got off to a good start.

Shen Xuanyao/Yang Xiaole, the mixed doubles pair that took the lead in the first match, was the first pairing. They played in a hurry under the extreme lack of joint training, and still won the match 2-1. During the game, Shen Xuanyao also had an unexpected racket disconnection, but this episode did not affect the final result. Since then, the men’s singles, women’s doubles, women’s singles, and men’s doubles have also won smoothly, and only lost one game in the men’s doubles, reflecting the great advantage of Zhejiang badminton at this level.

Han Qianxi, who played in the women’s singles, took only 30 minutes to win easily. In fact, she was also selected for the national team, hoping to make further progress through her own efforts and get on a bigger stage. She said with a smile: “I will definitely not be able to participate in this year’s Asian Games. I hope my teammates can win gold medals at home.”

Sang Yang, the coach of the Zhejiang team, told reporters that many national players in the team are currently playing with the national team. Participating in the second division league can give young players more opportunities for actual combat training, and promote the improvement of their level by using games instead of training. “Because we have Yuchao qualifications and don’t need to upgrade, so we don’t set goals for them, just play to their own level.” Sang Yang said.

It is worth mentioning that this competition is open to the public. Interested citizens can purchase e-tickets through the “Damai.com” APP and WeChat applet. The prices for the regular season are 18 yuan, 38 yuan, and 58 yuan; 68 yuan, 88 yuan, 118 yuan.
