The Best in medicine. Niko Mihic, head of Real Madrid’s medical services and previously head of the personalized early prevention unit at the HM Hospitales de Madrid group, ranked 22nd out of the 25 most influential people in Spanish healthcare according to the ranking published by Forbes.

Mihic, graduated in Medicine from the University of Toronto (Canada), has been working for Real Madrid since 2017. According to statements by Florentino Perez himself, president of the white entity, Mihic was one of the main managers for Mateo Kovacic to sign for Real Madrid in 2015.

The doctor has also taught medicine at the Center for University Studies (CEU) and served as a medical adviser for the airlines Air France and KLM. In the first places on the list appear Margarita del Val, Valentín Fuster and Rafael Matesanz.

Margarita del Val is in first place in the ranking. She is a researcher at the Higher Council for Scientific Research (Csic), and her studies focus on immune responses to viral infections and vaccines. Valentín Fuster, occupies the second place. Fuster is one of the leading cardiology doctors in Spain, and combines his functions as general director of the Carlos III National Center for Cardiovascular Research (Cnic) in Madrid.

Rafael Matesanz, is in third place. He is the founder and creator of the National Transplant Organization (ONT), an organization that led him for 28 years. Matesanz has achieved that Spanish citizens through his foundation position Spain in the first place in the country with the most organ transplants in the world.

The publication of this list comes from data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international entities. Researchers, doctors, laboratories, professional associations, pharmaceutical distribution, public and private managers, administration and politicians are some of the fields represented in this list of 25 leaders who have contributed to the transformation and improvement of healthcare in the last decade.
