In other news, the Central Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav, stated that the Maharashtra ATS, NIA, and RPF have detained Shahrukh Saifi, the accused in the Elathur train arson case. He was taken into custody from Ratnagiri following a joint operation by various agencies. Authorities confirmed that the perpetrator behind the train attack is now in custody following information from the Central Intelligence Agency.
Saifi was arrested from Ratnagiri railway station in Maharashtra following being traced following an investigation focused on nearby hospitals. The suspect had sustained serious injuries, including to his face. The hospitals in the area were alerted to the suspect’s potential arrival following being tipped off that he was en route to Ratnagira.
Moreover, the accused grew suspicious and left the hospital before completing his treatment. However, authorities located him near the railway station during a comprehensive search and detained him.
Additionally, Shahrukh Saifi claimed that he was instructed to set the train on fire, leading to confirmation of terrorist links.
