That’s why our trip to Jamaica was amazing!

Going back to the Caribbean is always a dream: the thing I missed the most is this pungent smell of flowers, humidity and the sea that blend with that of salt when you get to the sea. The Caribbean is heaven ????

Jamaica is the fifth Caribbean island I’ve decided to visit (yes, I have a certain love towards the Caribbean ????) and we’re going to do it this week here!

But let’s go in order starting from here: in Jamaica we stayed at Sandals South Coast structure which we immediately fell in love with following we stayed a few years ago in Barbados and which will be the starting point for our visit to the country.

During our stay we stayed in the “South Seas Swim-Up Rondoval Butler Suite with Private Pool Sanctuary” category rooms, with direct access to the common pool and with a private pool.

When I learned that we had also included the “Butler” service I was like “What?”. Let me explain: Kevin and Romaine were our “butlers” for the week and can be reached during the day on a cell phone given to you upon arrival by the Butler himself. In addition to being super professional, our team always has a ready joke, they are a force! The butler can book dinners, services, excursions for you, answer your questions (for example, he helped us understand where to buy things we needed), take the electric golf cart to dinner if you don’t feel like walking (NOT US hahaha ) and report things that may interest you (like that at 11 the fresh coconut arrives in the resort and if we wanted one ????)

There are tons of restaurants to try, each one offering a different cuisine, lots of sports to try (tennis, beach volleyball, basketball…), a thousand pools, some of which are heated, perfect for the night, a cocktail bar at the top a small pier on the sea .. in short, a month would not be enough to experience everything this resort has to offer!

The best time to enjoy the atmosphere is sunrise.

You should know that in Jamaica dawn is a magical moment where the tropical birds of the night take turns with those of the day and for a moment they sing together in a very particular choir. It is the moment in which the half-asleep pelicans pass over the sea that is tinged with orange. It’s the moment when the warm and still crisp air of the night mixes with the heat of the rising sun and you know that in a few minutes it will give way to the pleasant 30 degrees of the island, waiting for the evening breeze and those completely unexpected wind that comes from the sea and then calm down as quickly as it arrived.

The romanticism of the sunset, however, is priceless: it is said that in the Caribbean there are the most beautiful sunsets in the world: actually most of the most beautiful sunsets I have seen in my life, I have seen them here .. think regarding doing it by organizing a romantic dinner on the beach!

It must also be for this reason that the Caribbean is one of the favorite destinations when one thinks of a honeymoon or a marriage proposal or an anniversary.. there’s not much to do, it’s a romantic place and that’s it! At Sandals we saw a spectacular wedding celebrated on a small chapel by the sea and had a very romantic candlelit dinner under the stars.

Here there are also photographers available who, included in the price, take professional couple photos at sunset, I’m not kidding ???????? And obviously we mightn’t not try it ????

But Jamaica is not only this, it is much and much more. A country made up of a thousand contradictions, jovial and cheerful people, traffic, Rasta culture, Reggae music at every corner, rainforest, colorful houses and unbridled nature.

Here is a list of things we did and saw during our stay that you absolutely cannot miss and which are all within driving distance from the South Coast area:

  • The 7 miles beach, which takes its name from the fact that it is 7 miles long and along the entire stretch small typical cafes overlook the beach
  • Ricks’cafe in Negril, reputed to be the best place to see the sunset, is an absolutely insane place where dance competitions alternate with scary cliff diving.
  • The mausoleum house of Bob Marley, an icon of Jamaica and of Rasta culture, where his tomb and house are located and Rasta people tell you regarding his life to the sound of his music
  • Dunn’s River Falls, one of the icons of Jamaica where they filmed a lot of movies, are wonderful climbable waterfalls. However, very touristy, I suggest you do the trek and carve out your space in the silence where you can enjoy the river.

  • Cascade Blue Hole, hidden and remote, is a gem forgotten by tourism: pure nature that we loved!
  • Mystic Lagoon, where the Bioluminescence phenomenon is the strongest ever in the world and is visible in only 4 places in the world (Bahamas, Indonesia, Mexico, Japan and here). It occurs under special conditions, in places where salt water meets fresh water
  • River Rafting on the Great River, here the locals create rafts with giant bamboo and it is traditional for special occasions, such as birthdays and appointments, to take a small cruise on the river.
  • Cave Beach + Montego Bay
  • YS Falls, beautiful waterfalls where you can swim and cross them by “flying” on a very entertaining ziplane

I hope you enjoyed this adventure in Jamaica! Until next time 🙂
