The Supreme Organizing Committee for the 15th World Summer Games of the Special Olympics, which Germany will host in its capital, Berlin, from June 17 to 25, 2023, with the participation of 7,000 male and female players from 170 countries competing in 26 Olympic sports, has announced the names of more than 200 German cities, in what is known as the hosting program. Cities, which precedes the launch of the Games from 12 to 15 June.
Marburg hosts the UAE delegation that participates in the Games in 20 sports. The UAE delegation is the largest among the countries of the Middle East and North Africa region. Talal Mustafa Al Hashemi, the national director, heads the delegation. Because of the magnitude of the mission, there are three deputies: Fatima Ibrahim Al-Musalmi, Amr Muhammad Badawi.
The UAE seeks to maintain its achievement in the last world championship in Abu Dhabi 2019, when it won 182 medals, 64 gold, 55 silver and 63 bronze.
Marburg is a German city in the state of Hesse, located in the western center of Germany, with a population of 80,000 people and an area of 124.5 square kilometers. The Host Cities Program aims to highlight what German society has to offer, and encourage greater participation and recognition of persons with intellectual disabilities.
