The plenary session of Congress rejected the admission to debate of the vacancy motion once morest President Dina Boluarte, promoted by leftist groups.
The motion obtained 37 votes in favor, 64 once morest, and 10 abstentions, so it was filed.
For it to be admitted, the vote in favor of 50 parliamentarians was required, which constitutes 40% of legislators, which at the time of the vote is 124.
The document requested that the permanent moral incapacity of the president of the republic be declared, as provided for in article 113.2 of the Political Constitution, by pointing out that she was responsible for the death of citizens during the protests that took place in our country.
The person in charge of supporting the presidential vacancy motion was Congressman Hamlet Echeverría (Cambio Democrático). Next, representatives of the different benches of the Congress expressed their positions in favor and once morest.
After the vote, Congresswoman Kelly Portalatino (Libre Peru) filed a request for reconsideration of the vote to admit the motion once morest the head of state. This got 67 votes once morest, so it was dismissed.
PRONOUNCEMENT OF THE PREMIER
The President of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otárola, welcomed the decision of Congress not to admit to debate the vacancy motion raised once morest the Head of State, Dina Boluarte.
In this sense, he thanked the democratic forces “that are in tune with the country and that want peace, tranquility, development and attention to the emergency” caused by the rains.
“What the government needs is to work, and these types of motions do nothing but distract the efforts of Parliament itself,” he said.
For this reason, he insisted on “greeting the democratic maturity of the forces that have prevented such an inconsistent initiative from prospering” as the aforementioned motion.
