The Egyptian Medicines Authority provided a number of nutritional tips for patients with high blood pressure, in order to ensure their health.
The tips were as follows:
Reducing the amount of sodium by reducing the amount of salt added to food, replacing it with spices and lemon, and avoiding pickles, meat, and foods preserved with salt.
Follow a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, especially leafy greens such as spinach
Focus on foods rich in fiber, such as whole grains, brown bread and oats, and avoid sugary and soft drinks.
Eat low-fat or fat-free dairy products, and avoid cheese that contains a large amount of salt.
Avoid foods rich in saturated fats, such as red meat and fried foods, and focus on foods rich in omega-3, such as fish and olive oil.
Focus on sources of potassium, such as bananas, apricots, and dates. Because it has a major role in regulating blood pressure
Avoid drinking licorice extract (5g or more) daily for several weeks; Because this may cause high blood pressure
