Agreement between the University of Lomé and Clark Atlanta University (USA)

The University of Lomé and Clark Atlanta University in the United States are now bound by an agreement. The documents were initialed on 1is April 2023 in Lomé by Prof. Komlan Dodzi Kokoroko, President of the University of Lomé and Prof. George Tony French, President of Clark Atlanta University.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Sandra Ablamba Johnson, the Minister of Higher Education and Research, Pr Ihou Nazoba Majesté Watéba, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development Antoine Lékpa Gbégbéni, the Minister of Primary, Secondary, Technical Education and Handicrafts, Professor Komlan Dodzi Kokoroko, and the President of the World Bank Group visiting Togo, David Malpass.

Facilitated by the World Bank Group, this partnership aims in particular to foster the sharing of knowledge and talents between the two universities with a view to providing more innovative solutions to the most pressing development challenges in Africa.

“Africa’s economic transformation depends on its human capital and the skills of its workforce. And the education sector is very important in the World Bank program. It is a pleasure to witness the conclusion of a new partnership between these two institutions in order to expand the possibilities for students and teachers to collaborate in the field of research and to promote a more inclusive social and economic development and sustainable,” said David Malpass.

Minister Sandra Ablamba Johnson, Country Governor of the World Bank expressed the government’s gratitude to the President of Clark Atlanta University for this partnership which, she said, aligns with the priorities of the education sector, set out in the Togo 2025 government roadmap.

She reassured that this partnership will be closely monitored so that the impact is real on the populations, while hoping that exchanges will continue with a view to extending such initiatives to other development sectors.
