Representing Loreto Governor Dr. René Chávez, the lieutenant governor led the press conference on Trans Visibility Day, “Trans Lives Matter” where beneficiaries of the Transcendent Opportunities Program participated, with the accompaniment of Amnesty International, YMCA PERU, Trans Feminist Organization, AHF Peru, Amazon Jungle Civil Association, Red Trans Loreto and Group 69 of Amnesty International.
This space served to make visible the problems that women go through to access different services and the excessive violence that is exerted on the lives of trans women, Amnesty International also presented an analysis of the situation of vulnerability of rights in the country.
In this conference, in addition to representatives of the city of Nauta, was the sister of Ruby Ferrer, a Trans woman murdered by hitmen in the city of Lima and who became a symbol of this genre at the national level. In this context, the organizations participating in the event proposed as “Day of Interest for the Movement of Trans Women” on February 13 in commemoration of the day that Ruby Ferrer was assassinated.
