FPÖ – Ecker on nursing schools: “Polaschek’s project is just a drop in the bucket” | Liberal Parliament Club

Vienna (OTS) “Basically, it’s positive that there’s finally some movement in nursing training, but this project is just a drop in the bucket. In the short term, there will not be more graduates than before,” said women’s spokeswoman NAbg. Rosa Ecker on today’s announcement by ÖVP Education Minister Polaschek that more nursing schools should now come.

“At the same time, efficient and future-proof measures are urgently needed in order to retain the nursing staff currently working on the one hand and, on the other hand, a promising offensive is needed to be able to win people who have worked in nursing back to the nursing profession,” emphasized Ecker .

“Currently, many departments in retirement homes and in hospitals are simply not available because the necessary nursing staff is lacking and, in some cases, medical care is also not available. Appointments for important operations often turn into a gamble and this situation might become even more precarious next summer due to the holiday season,” Ecker feared.
