Galaxy S23 FE: Samsung’s smartphone will arrive this year with an Exynos chip

At the end of this year, Samsung will market the new Galaxy S23 “Fan Edition”, which is one of the affordable smartphones that was not eligible for any model in 2022.

Last year, Samsung made the choice not to launch any Galaxy S22 FE, following the bitter failure of the Galaxy S21 FE the previous year. After several delays, the latter was released too late to be competitive enough. Samsung will prepare a new model this year, at an affordable price.

While Samsung decided to ditch the Exynos processors in its latest Galaxy S23 phone, and use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips on all models, the Galaxy S23 FE might mark the return of Samsung’s in-house chip, according to a new report from SamMobile.

Galaxy S23 FE comes to us with an Exynos chip

According to SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will feature an Exynos 2200 chip in all regions, unlike the S21 FE, which features a Snapdragon and Exynos chipset depending on the market. As a reminder, this is the chip that was used in the international market last year in the Galaxy S22, which was heavily criticized for its performance compared to Qualcomm chips.

When the Galaxy S23 FE launches at the end of the year, the Exynos 2200 will then be almost two years old, which will clearly prevent the smartphone from ranking among the most powerful phones on the market. However, choosing to use this chip instead of another might allow Samsung to lower the price of its smartphone, thus not repeating the same mistake as the previous model.

In terms of the rest of the technical sheet, SamMobile mentions a 50MP main camera, up from 12MP previously, a 4,500mAh battery compatible with 25W fast charging, 128GB and 256GB of storage, and 6GB and 8GB of RAM.
