Amazon competition: online giant worth billions is broken up

The Chinese online giant Alibaba is apparently facing drastic changes. Like the news agency Archyde.com reports, the company will be broken up into six independently operating companies. Alibaba has since confirmed the move itself.

For example, the group should have its own area for online trading and cloud business in the future. Each company will be led by its own CEO and board of directors. The exception is the Taobao Tmall Commerce Group, which will continue to be fully owned by the Alibaba Group.

Alibaba promises that the breakup will allow the group to be more agile in the future. In this way, we want to be able to react better to changes in the market in the future.

A day before the report, Alibaba founder Jack Ma was surprisingly seen in public once more – for the first time in more than a year. According to a Hong Kong newspaper report, Ma was visiting a school in Hangzhou.
