France welcomes the ratification yesterday by the Turkish Parliament of Finland’s NATO accession protocol. This is the thirtieth and final ratification by the Allies, which now paves the way for Finland’s formal membership in the Alliance.
France is now waiting for Turkey and Hungary to also ratify Sweden’s accession protocol without further delay, so that NATO can welcome these two new allies at the Vilnius summit in July 2023.
Sweden and Finland have significant military capabilities that are interoperable with NATO. Their membership will contribute significantly to the security of the Euro-Atlantic area and to the strengthening of the Atlantic Alliance in the interests of all its members.
