In Togo, the head of state Faure Gnassingbé has just granted a presidential pardon to 352 detainees.
This is a reduction of sentence which mainly concerns convicts at the end of their sentence, including 216 in Lomé, 75 in Atakpamé and 61 in Notsè.
The decision taken this Thursday, March 30, 2023 by means of a decree, is part of the implementation of the criminal policy to relieve congestion in Togo’s penal establishments, according to the Keeper of the Seals, Minister of Justice and of legislation, Pius Agbétomey.
