Prize for artists in the Mühlviertel announced

There are local cultural prizes in some places; one that is supposed to appeal to artists from all over the Mühlviertel, only since this year. A culture prize has emerged from the Mühlviertler ART 4113 series of events. The association Innovatives St. Martin is addressing musicians and visual artists. Submissions are possible until June 2nd.

Visual artists and musicians who have their main residence in the Mühlviertel and are at least 16 years old are invited to submit. It doesn’t matter whether it’s an individual artist or a group. However, it is the artist’s work that is evaluated and not an individual picture or an individual score.

“We have immense artistic diversity in the Mühlviertel, which we want to promote and bring to the fore,” says Günter Huemer, chairman of the St. Martin cultural association Voi and in his capacity also the initiator of the Mühlviertler ART 4113. He also has experience as a juror at the Hubert von Goisern Culture Prize.

Two main prizes are awarded, each endowed with 1500 euros. These are awarded in the categories of music and fine arts. There are also two recognition prizes of 500 euros each from all submissions. Huemer expects a wide spread in the submissions. The concept of culture allows for a lot anyway: “From soloists to entire ensembles, from classical to jazz to folk music – all genres are invited to apply.” The same applies to the field of visual artists – sculpture, painting, drawing, graphics, photography, handicrafts. “The boundaries are fluid,” as Beni Altmüller and Thomas Paster know, who sit on the expert jury along with Margit Kaiserseder and Gerlinde Stockinger. The musical submissions will be judged by Günter Huemer, conductor Martin Falkner and music school director Wolfgang Panholzer.

Concert on July 15th

For the chairman of the association Innovatives St. Martin, Mayor Manfred Lanzersdorfer, culture is the “coexistence and interaction of an entire society. This is to be expressed with the new culture prize.” The prizewinners’ concert will then take place on July 15 at the St. Martin market square. There is also a varied programme.

The submission documents can be sent by e-mail from April 10th to June 2nd [email protected] sent. Required documents: Description of career, motivation, goals, examples of work in digital form.
