the damage cost him dearly, “he tipped over and stuck to the car…”

Last summer, Yves Lehaen returned from a weekend at the seaside when the clamp on his bike rack broke. Luckily, the bike was attached with additional straps, explains HBVL.

“He tipped over and stuck to the car. It then rolled on the road for some time, causing considerable damage,” explains Yves. “Fortunately, we were able to stop quite quickly.”

Yves then ties up his bike with a rope and goes home. The next day, he went to his Volkswagen garage where he had bought the bike rack a year earlier.

“They kept it and examined it. They had never seen this before,” says Yves who, at the same time, had his bike repaired for €385. For a while, the Belgian has no news from Volskwagen. It is following insisting several times that he receives a replacement bike rack.

Last September, Yves Lehaen then received a call from Volskwagen offering to keep the product, but he disagreed. “I didn’t accept”, reacts Yves categorically. “The Thule bike carrier is more practical. I feel like I’m being tricked.”

Yves therefore insists and specifies that he is entitled to a repair or replacement of his bike rack because it is under warranty. After several months, the Belgian won his case. D’Ieteren then contacts Thule and four months a new product is delivered. The bike rack did not break down but actually had a production error.
