The High Court overturned the Central Information Commission’s mandate to Gujarat University in 2016, and Kejriwal was fined Rs 25,000 by the High Court. Justice Biren Vaishnav made the announcement. In 2016, the Central Information Commission directed Gujarat University and Delhi University to submit the details of Modi’s university degrees to Kejriwal. Gujarat University challenged this decision in court, stating that Modi graduated from their institution in 1978 and received his post-graduation from Delhi University in 1983. Although the university maintains that there is no hidden information, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who represented Gujarat University, argued that disclosing these details would breach Modi’s privacy.

New Delhi: The Gujarat High Court quashed the order to hand over details related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The High Court quashed the Central Information Commission’s directive to Gujarat University in 2016. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been fined Rs 25,000 by the High Court. The order was given by Justice Biren Vaishnav of the Gujarat High Court.
In 2016, the Central Information Commission had ordered the details of Narendra Modi’s graduation and post-graduation certificates to be handed over to the petitioner, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Chief Information Commissioner Dr. Sridhar Acharyalu gave this instruction to Gujarat University and Delhi University.
Gujarat University approached the High Court once morest this. Narendra Modi has stated that he obtained his graduation from Gujarat University in 1978 and post graduation from Delhi University in 1983. The university argued that there was nothing to hide in this regard, but the RTI might not compel handover of degree details.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for Gujarat University, had argued that sharing the details would affect Modi’s privacy.
