Ahmed Omar Hashem arrives in Cairo and receives treatment in a hospital

Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, is receiving treatment in a private hospital in Cairo, following he arrived on a private medical plane, on Thursday evening, coming from Malta, following he fainted associated with respiratory problems, as he was on his way to Algeria to participate in one of the conferences, and during the flight he felt severe fatigue that necessitated an emergency landing, and the nearest airport was in Malta.

Contact was made with the Egyptian Consul in Malta, and in turn he communicated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and contacts between several parties. The Presidency of the Republic was informed, as President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered a private medical plane to return Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem to the homeland, and upon his arrival to the homeland he was transferred to a private hospital and his condition is now stable.

Dr. Salama Daoud, President of Al-Azhar University, had expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic; For his care for the scholars of Al-Azhar University, where he directed to send a plane equipped to transport Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem, former president of Al-Azhar University and a member of the Council of Senior Scholars in Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, from Malta to Egypt; Where the great scientist was at a conference and was exposed to a health problem, which resulted in his admission to the hospital in the state of Malta.

The President of the University also extended thanks and appreciation to His Eminence, the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar; For his relentless efforts in following up the case of Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem; As soon as his Eminence learned of the development of Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem’s health, he initiated contact with the Presidency of the Republic and the Egyptian Embassy in Malta. To bring him back to Cairo, stressing that Imam al-Tayyib always stands next to the sons of Al-Azhar and its scholars in adversity.

The President of the University explained that His Eminence, the Grand Imam, when he presented the matter to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, he agreed directly to send a medically equipped plane to transport Dr. Ahmed Omar Hashem to Egypt for treatment, pointing out that this noble position reflects the President’s care for science and scholars.
