In the midst of the growing wave of violence in the United States and days following another shooting was recorded at a school, this time in Nashville, The Florida Legislature passed a new law that will allow a concealed loaded weapon to be carried anywhere without a permit.
After passing the Republican-controlled Legislature, the bill now goes to Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has repeatedly signaled that he will sign it.
This is the new law in Florida that will allow carrying a loaded weapon without a permit
Under current Florida law, people seeking to carry concealed weapons in public must obtain a license from the state and must complete certain requirements to obtain one. These include a background check, licensing, and firearms training.
The new law eliminates the existing requirements. However, under the new legislation, people who are prohibited from buying or carrying guns under other Florida laws will still not be able to do so.

According to the bill, called “constitutional portability” people would only need to have valid identification while carrying a concealed weapon. Failure to do so carries a $25 fine.
Governor DeSantis’s words on carrying weapons
DeSantis has repeatedly suggested that he sign the measure, even promising to deliver such a bill before leaving office. “A constitutional right should not require a permission slip from the government. It is time for us to join 25 other states in enacting constitutional transportation in the state of Florida.”said during a speech before the Florida Legislature this month (via NBC News).
If the bill is signed by DeSantis, Florida will become the 26th state to allow people to carry concealed loaded weapons anywhere without permits. The other 25 states that allow it are:
