After three editions of the book fair in town, following the famous pandemic, the Geneva book fair has returned to its usual place at Palexpo. The public was numerous and the reunion fully successful. Indeed, the show welcomed 61,000 people from March 22 to 26.
The book at heart of all generations
This new edition brought together all generations, with stands, events and exhibitions, aimed at both children and adults.
Wednesday notably hosted school meetings, where children were able to take part in various activities and meet eclectic authors.
Some 600 authors met the public and discussed with it. The two guests of honour, Monica Sabolo and Joann Sfar, met for the first time together to talk with the authors they had chosen. This created a beautiful moment of literary exchange.
#pointofview: another perspective of reality
The exhibitions were also a great success. For example, you had to wait to live the #pointdevue experience, set up by Happy City Lab. This consisted of putting on a pair of distorting glasses and walking around the rooms of a house to perform various tasks of daily life, such as lying in bed, pouring a glass of water, playing on the console or even hanging out laundry or doing their hair. The playful and somewhat destabilizing experience questions our relationship to reality and in particular our personal point of view, which is ultimately only one possible perspective among an infinity of others. This activity delighted families.
The future of the book in question
Thursday and Friday were devoted to the Assises de l’édition. It was regarding the future of books, a very sensitive subject in the digital age. This moment of encounter also plays an essential role for book professionals.
The 2023 edition has confirmed that the public is indeed there in person and that it is attached to these privileged moments of exchange and discovery, following three years of living in town.
