Finland thanks 30 NATO countries for ‘support’
The Finnish president thanked the 30 NATO countries, while his country’s membership is now imminent, following the green light from the Turkish Parliament. “I want to thank them all for their trust and support,” said the head of state of the Nordic country Sauli Niinistö in a press release, wishing the entry “as soon as possible” of Sweden, also a candidate but still blocked by Turkey.
Finland’s application has now been ratified by all members and we will join NATO. Thank you to all countries for your support. As allies, we will give and receive security. We will defend each other. Finland stands with Sweden now and in the future and supports its application.

“We will defend each other,” for her part promised Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin, who will try to win a second term in legislative elections on Sunday. “Finland stands with Sweden, now and in the future, and supports their candidacy,” she said on Twitter.
