An Assistant Secretly Films Students in the Toilets at HEC Liège.

A doctoral student who was also an assistant at HEC Liège, the management school of the University of Liège, was caught filming female students in the toilets without their knowledge. The cameras used had been in place for a year before the discovery was made on Monday by the maintenance staff. The administration at ULiège immediately called the police upon discovering the recording device and was successful in identifying the suspect. The doctoral student was arrested at the scene and fired from his job. All other toilets at HEC were immediately inspected as well as all university campuses. The suspect’s computer access was cut off and all PCs were seized. A complaint was filed and a civil action taken. All students and staff at the university were notified of the case. The suspect was presented to the investigating judge on Wednesday, admitted to having repeated the offense several times, and was released but under strict conditions. The investigation is ongoing.

At the end of the morning, the maintenance staff made a strange discovery in the ladies’ toilets, as explained by Anne Girin, administrator of ULiège: “We discovered a recording device filming in the ladies’ room. We immediately called the police. We viewed the first images to try to identify the suspect and we managed to identify him.

It is therefore a doctoral student in economics and assistant, rather discreet, present in the establishment for nearly 6 years. He was arrested at the scene and taken away by the police.

We instantly terminated his contractspecifies Anne Girin, We of course inspected, rather than once, all of the toilets at HEC. I launched the same procedure on all of the university campuses. In addition, we immediately, on Monday followingnoon, changed the barrel of his door, the police seized all the PCs he had. And he had several on his desk. All students and staff at the university have been notified of the case.

The individual was presented to the investigating judge on Wednesday. He was released but under strict conditions. He admitted to having repeated the facts several times. The investigations are continuing.
