The health of Pope Francis: he spent “a good night” and will continue to be hospitalized for “several days”

A Vatican source that closely follows the pope’s health revealed that Francis spent a “good night” at the Gemelli hospital in Rome, where he remains hospitalized due to a respiratory infection.

The same source added that Bergoglio will remain in the institution “several days” to receive treatment.

Through a statement, the Holy See referred to Francisco’s state of health and ruled out that it is a Covid-19 infection.

“In recent days Pope Francis has lamented some respiratory difficulties and this followingnoon [por ayer] He went to the Gemelli Polyclinic to carry out some medical check-ups. Their success has revealed a respiratory infection – excluding Covid 19 infection – that will require a few days of timely hospital medical therapy,” the statement said.

“Pope Francis is moved by the many messages received and expresses his own gratitude for the closeness and prayer,” he adds.

A few days before Easter, the Vatican sources did not specify whether or not the Pope’s condition compromises his presence at the Easter celebration.
