Not a week goes by without a new rumor surrounding Lionel Messi’s future. In recent months, the Argentinian has been cited in MLS, with Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia or even back at Barça. But the Marca newspaper reveals this Thursday what would be Lionel Messi’s real plan until the end of his career.
While he is at the end of his contract at PSG, La Pulga might finally stay one more season in the French capital… before finally joining MLS the following season rather than returning to Catalonia.
Lionel Messi ready to return to Barça? “He has a 50% chance of returning to Catalonia”
For Marca, the Argentinian has made the Argentinian selection his priority. The world title did not alter his motivation to shine with the Albiceleste and the celebrations, on the contrary, motivated him to continue in the white and blue jersey.
Staying at PSG for another season would allow him to stay one more year at the highest level without having to move. By subsequently joining MLS, he has in mind to prepare as quietly as possible for the 2026 World Cup which he wants to play with Argentina. He will then have just celebrated his 39th birthday.
This would allow him to shorten trips to his country for international windows while the next World Cup will be played on the North American continent.
