Messi exceeds the barrier of 100 goals with Argentina

Argentina’s all-time leading scorer scored his 100th goal for his country, when he opened the scoring with a low drive following 20 minutes.

The star, Lionel Messi, achieved a new achievement in his sports career, by surpassing the 100-goal barrier with world champions Argentina, when he scored three goals in a 7-0 victory over Curacao in a friendly football match.

Argentina’s all-time top scorer scored his 100th goal for his country when he opened the scoring with a low shot following 20 minutes.

“We will never stop celebrating, and I think it’s natural and deserved,” Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni told reporters.

He added, “I hope there will be more (from Messi’s goals), as he deserves all the praise, and it is wonderful that these goals came on Argentine soil, as this makes them exceptional.”

For his part, Nicholas Gonzalez strengthened the hosts’ superiority, before Messi added his second goal with a wonderful shot in the 33rd minute. Two minutes later, Messi made the fourth goal for his colleague Enzo Fernandez.

The 35-year-old completed the hat-trick eight minutes before the break, reaching 102 goals.

Substitute Angel Di Maria scored from the penalty spot in the 78th minute, then Gonzalo Montiel, who scored the decisive penalty once morest France in the World Cup final, finished off the goals in the 87th minute.
