ESC: Schöneberger moderates for ORF, ARD and SRF

For the first time in history, the audience from Austria, Germany and Switzerland will be in the mood for the finale of the musical mega-event – or let it end in intimate harmony. For the grand finale on May 13 in Liverpool, the two supporting programs “ESC – Der Countdown” and “ESC – Die Aftershow” will be shown simultaneously on ORF 1, ARD and SRF 1. Both formats are moderated by Barbara Schöneberger.

At 8:15 p.m., shortly before the start of the grand finale at 9 p.m., the 49-year-old from the Tate Museum in Liverpool welcomes the transnational ESC community. And following that, from 0.45 a.m., we will celebrate together live or maybe mourn a little. Guests are former ESC candidates and prominent fans of the event. Last but not least, this year’s three representatives – the female duo Teya & Salena from Austria, the German metal band Lord of the Lost and the Swiss singer Remo Forrer – will perform once more at the finale following their (possible) performance in the M&S Arena.

Semifinals on May 11

Before that, however, at least Switzerland must qualify for the finals in the first semifinal on May 9th and Austria’s candidates in the second semifinal on May 11th. Germany, as one of the five major contributors to the EBU (European Broadcasting Union), will be part of the game on May 13th. In the old tradition, the two semi-final evenings will be broadcast by ORF 1 – introduced at 8.15 p.m. by Andi Knoll with the format “Mr. Song Contest proudly presents”.
