(Agence Ecofin) – The Moroccan silver mine Zgounder is the flagship asset of Canadian Aya Gold & Silver. In 2022, production there increased by more than 17% compared to the previous year to reach 1.88 million ounces. The company wants to do better in 2023.
The Canadian mining company Aya Gold & Silver, active in Morocco on the Zgounder silver mine, published on March 29 its operating and financial results for the year 2022. It announces an increase of 11.5% year-on-year in its revenue, at $38.2 million.
This progress is supported by silver sales which reached 1.94 million ounces, up 28% compared to 2021. To achieve this, the company was able to count on stronger than expected production at Zgounder. Silver production increased by 17.5% year-on-year to reach 1.88 million ounces.
« The 2022 actions allowed us to raise nearly $200 million in funds in the first quarter of 2023, deliver record results and begin the expansion of the Zgounder mineadded Benoit La Salle, CEO of the company, regarding the other highlights of the past year.
In 2023, Aya Gold & Silver aims to produce between 1.7 and 1.9 million ounces of silver.
