Apple finally releases new architecture of the Home app

The upgrade to the new architecture of the Home app (Home) is finally back with the release of iOS/iPadOS 16.4 and macOS Ventura 13.3, as noted by MacRumors.

As we have seen, the saga involving the platform update began at the end of last year, following the release of iOS/iPadOS 16.2 and macOS Ventura 13.1. Despite promising “improved reliability and efficiency”, what actually happened were several problems that led to the suspension of the update.

The fact is that, now, following the availability of the most recent systems, users can once once more choose to update any house configured in the application Home for the new architecture.

To perform the update, open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac and follow the steps below:

  1. Tap or click the More button (three dots);
  2. Select “Home Settings”;
  3. If you have several houses, choose one and select “House Settings”;
  4. Select “Software Update”;
  5. Tap or click Learn More under “Update Available for Home” and follow the instructions to update.

As Apple points out in a support document, any device that’s connected to an updated home and isn’t up to date will lose access to the home until newer software is installed — including people you invite to control your home.

In addition, it is necessary to have an Apple TV or HomePod configured as a home hub to share control and receive notifications in the new architecture of the Home app — since the launch of iOS 16, the iPad does not support this option, it is worth noting.
