Drunk man runs over a transit element and a motorcyclist in Torreón

A Traffic and Highway officer and a motorcyclist were injured following being run over by the driver of a car, it is presumed that the person responsible was traveling in an alleged drunken state, along El Tajito boulevard, in Torreón.

The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. this Tuesday, a few meters from Constitución Boulevard, when the driver was also speeding.

According to the first investigations, the now detainee was moving along El Tajito boulevard, along the lanes that lead to the city’s Peripheral, aboard a white Honda brand car, HR-V line.

It was when passing Constitución Boulevard, when the driver hit a Transit and Highway element head-on, and ran over both he and the unit in which he was, they were thrown onto the road.

However, the driver continued his course and shortly before the first returnhit a second motorcyclist, who was also thrown suffering various injuries.

Despite the fact that the person responsible managed to return on the same boulevard, other drivers blocked his path, forbidding him to flee, so he stayed at the height of San Luciano street.

Witnesses to the events notified the authorities through a call to the state emergency system, 911, and requested an ambulance to treat the injured.

More road elements were mobilized to the site to start the investigations, while paramedics from the Red Cross also came to help the Transit element and the second motorcyclist, only the second was transferred to clinic 18 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), for specialized care; for his part, the officer remained in the place without requiring the transfer.

Expert personnel also went to the place, who established the responsibilities in the same place, and ordered the transfer of the units to a corral in the city for their protection.

The responsible driver refused to give his name, however state authorities made an appointment to secure the man and transfer him to a cell for the crimes that result.
