Members of the IACHR visit the former president of Bolivia, Jeanine Áñez, in prison – Publimetro México

MADRID, 29 (EUROPA PRESS)

Both Áñez and the governor of the department of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, one of the main figures in the opposition to the current president and interned in another prison in La Paz, had requested the IACHR to investigate their criminal cases.

For his part, the spokesman for the Bolivian Presidency, Jorge Richter, responded to this visit by highlighting the expectations that, according to the Bolivian Information Agency, they held. Now, Richter has assured, they have gone on to “attack and invalidate” the mission.

“Trying to invalidate, to label these reports with subjective appreciations, speaks of the dimension of who is doing it, of the politicians and nothing else, but the reports always have good things and negative things, and that is what must be done.” know how to assess and then propose solutions”, he assured.

He has celebrated the conclusion of this visit, arguing that “even if (the IACHR) said that in Bolivia there was electoral fraud with evidence, of course (the opposition parties) would be praising him, they would even build him a public bust, but that does not happen, the facts are superimposed on reality in a clear way, far above the narratives”.
