ALGIERS- The customs services of the port of Algiers proceeded to the seizure of a large quantity of food products intended for export for false declaration in the description and the quantity of the goods, indicates, Tuesday, a press release from the Management General of Customs (DGD).
“As part of the exercise of the missions assigned to the body of the Algerian Customs, in particular the control of the border movement of imported and exported goods and following the processing of customs declaration files of three customs clearance operations of goods intended for export, three customs offenses related to false declarations in terms of goods and declared quantities were recorded by the main inspection services for the control of commercial operations under the divisional customs inspection services of Algiers-commerce, territory of competence the regional direction of Customs of Algiers Port”, specifies the press release.
The seizures in question concern 1,235 packages of pasta, 400 packages of canned tomatoes, 383 packages of biscuits, 106 packages of juice powder, 160 packages and 189 kg of flan, 18 packages of cakes, 126,000 packages of pastry sheets ( diouls), 840 liters of olive oil, 529.5 kg of butter (smen), 133.2 kg of rice flour, 80 packages of chocolate powder and 10 boxes of cake molds, underlines the DGD.
These operations mark “the operationality of the Algerian customs services and the total mobilization of their agents to protect the national economy and preserve the rights of the public treasury and this through the strengthening of all the control mechanisms on external commercial operations. in parallel with the facilitations granted to economic operators”, concludes the same source.
