Now, less than a year following the feature arrived, it’s expanding and earning too. connected device monitoring. It doesn’t matter if it’s an iPhone, your AirPods or even USB sticks: CleanMyMac X will provide details and allow you to interact with them directly from the menu bar.
When we talk regarding iPhones and iPads, you can see details like the battery percentage and the amount of storage available. When you click the “reclaim space” button, you’ll see detailed information on how you can get more space on these devices, which just need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac to appear in the section.
For devices connected via Bluetooth (such as AirPods, mice and keyboards), the functions are more limited, but they are still useful. It is possible to see the remaining percentage of the battery in each one of them and, in case it is at a low level, the destined color will be highlighted in red so that you remember to recharge it.
The strong point of the new feature is the section dedicated to external disks, in which, in addition to being able to see the remaining storage space on these devices, you’ll have several options to quickly free up even more space on them. With just one click, Connected Device Monitor scans the drive for junk files (thumbnails, etc.) and easily removes them.
Users’ personal files are not automatically removed, but a quick click on “Organize” to have an overview of all of them in the module Space Lens from CleanMyMac X. You can also eject one or more devices at the same time directly from the menu — which is a convenience if you already have it open.
Finally, in addition to the device monitor, CleanMyMac X’s monitoring menu now also has a dedicated network section, where you can quickly see upload and download rates and even test your computer’s internet speed.
