The police chief believes that “there is some belief that there was resentment regarding having to go to that school.”
The Nashville Metropolitan Police (USA) has identified the author of the mass shooting at a city school that killed six people on Monday as a white transgender person.
During a press conference, local Police Chief John Drake identified the shooter as Audrey Elizabeth Hale, a 28-year-old local resident, a biological female who identified herself as “he,” according to her online profile.
Authorities located the suspect’s home, where she lived with her parents, following finding a car near the scene of the attack. “There was a vehicle that was close to her that gave us clues as to who she was,” Drake said.
A photo posted on social media shows the suspect’s car — from which “written material” was recovered — parked outside the Church before carrying out the massacre.
Subsequently, the Police published a video recorded by security cameras in which it is seen how the alleged attacker arrives at the school in her Honda Fit, parks the vehicle near the building and enters the school opening fire once morest the glass of the doors.
He also specified that the transgender person was armed with two assault rifles and a pistol.
Hale, who was reportedly a student at the school, reportedly had “a manifesto” with writings believed to be related to the attack and detailed maps of the school with information on surveillance and entry, along with a plan “how all this was going to happen”.
“We have a manifesto, we have some writings that we are reviewing that pertain to this date, to the incident itself,” Drake said, adding that Hale is believed to have “gained his way in by shooting through one of the side doors.”

In addition, plans were found to attack another school in the city. However, due to the security risks estimated by the suspect, he decided not to do so, the police chief explained, suggesting that it was a “targeted attack.”
In an interview with NBC, Drake noted that “there is some belief that there was some resentment regarding having to go to that school.”
The motive for the attack has not been released, but police said they are investigating whether Hale’s transgender identity, who had no criminal record, played a role in the crime. Likewise, it is unknown regarding any history of mental illness.
According to Hale’s LinkedIn profile, he worked in the field of illustration and graphic design.
The shooting occurred this Monday morning at The Covenant Presbyterian private school.
Six people were killed in the attack, three nine-year-old children and three adults in their 60s. Hale, who was armed with at least “two rifles and one pistol,” was shot dead by officers who confronted her on the second floor of the establishment.
