The first 6 out of 23 wagons of the 105N series have already been sent to Ukraine. Earlier, Konotop received from Warsaw 9 vehicles – heavy machines and cars – previously used by the Road Repair and Maintenance Department.

Artem Semenikhin, the mayor of Konotop, turned to Warsaw Trams for help. The high-floor “stopiątki” popular in Poland will go to Ukraine. These are copies that until recently traveled around the city and which are being withdrawn in connection with the deliveries of low-floor Hyundai cars. In total, 23 wagons have been selected for delivery.

Old vehicles were successively delivered to the tram loading yard at ul. Obozowa, where they were waiting for transport to Konotop. However, before the 105N wagons will power the local rolling stock, they will be converted – already in Ukraine – to be able to run on rails with a gauge of 1520 mm (rails in Warsaw have a gauge of 1435 mm).

Friendship wagons

On February 8, the trams intended for Konotop were seen by the mayor of Artem Semenikhin during his visit to Warsaw. On Wednesday, February 22, the first six wagons were loaded onto trucks. Before the “journey”, all wagons were prepared for transport – the rail brakes and pantographs were dismantled. The transport of the wagons was provided by the Government Strategic Reserves Agency.

Konotop is located in the Sumy Oblast, in north-eastern Ukraine. The city is inhabited by approx. 85 thousand people. people. Trams have been running there since 1949, and the length of the network with three lines is 28.7 km. Only a few trams manufactured in the 1980s in the USSR and Czechoslovakia operate in the city. As a thank you, Konotop renamed one of the streets to Warszawska.

Buses and metro

Capital companies have already supported Ukrainian partners before. Warsaw Trams delivered two trolleys to Ivano-Frankivsk for the repair of the traction network, where they are used to repair the trolleybus network. In turn, Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe sent five articulated Solaris buses to Mikołajów. The renovated vehicles – a neonatal ambulance and a garbage truck – were also donated by the MPO in Warsaw.

Metro Warszawskie has also established cooperation with Kiev. The capital of Ukraine will receive 60 old Russian cars of the 81 series, which are withdrawn due to the supply of modern Skoda Varsovia trains.

As part of humanitarian aid, the city of Konotop received from Warsaw 9 vehicles that had previously been used by the Road Repair and Maintenance Department. The Ukrainian local government received 2 trucks, a semi-trailer and 6 construction machines: graders, a backhoe loader, a backhoe bulldozer and loaders. The city will also receive a passenger car that previously belonged to the Warsaw City Cleaning Authority.
