Anyone can suffer from a headache while fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, but there is a group that is more susceptible to it, according to Dr. Hossam Mowafi, professor of critical cases at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine.

Muwafi said during his program “My Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge”, broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, that headaches during fasting are among the common problems among smokers during the month of Ramadan.

The professor of critical care medicine explained that the reason why smokers feel headaches during fasting is due to the body not getting the usual dose of nicotine, which leads to mood swings as well.

He pointed out that the body needs only 4 days, in order to adapt to the lack of smoking in Ramadan, and then the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal during fasting decrease, especially the feeling of headache.
