Director Yuan Jianwei, who has collaborated quite a lot with MIRROR members in recent years, recently wrote Gigi Leung’s new song “Stop. “Heart Breathing” MV directed, but was accused of plagiarism when it was released. The local art creation team CHLOEOGRAPHY PROJECT posted a post on facebook, referring to Gigi’s “Stop, stop. The visual images and related publicity images in the MV of “Heart Breathing” are consistent with our team’s 2018 mobile dance theater work “The Faraway City Maybe Tomorrow”* (hereinfollowing referred to as “The Faraway City”)’s multiple performance promotional images and photos are highly similar, and the similarity of some images is as high as 90%.
CHLOEOGRAPHY PROJECT also published a number of photos for comparison between “A City Far Away” and “Stop A Stop. Heart Breathing” MV screen similarities.
Yuan Jianwei, who was involved in this incident, joined TVB in the 1990s as an assistant director, and was later promoted to a director. He mainly participated in the production of music programs, so he became acquainted with Sister Hua, the MIRROR manager who also came from TVB’s music team. Yuan Jianwei later turned to be an director. In 2014, he crossed over to direct the movie “Dark Paradise” starring Jacky Cheung and Carrie Lam. Last year, Yuan Jianwei directed the ViuTV drama “Preseason” starring MIRROR members Jiang Tao, Chen Zhuoxian (Ian), Lu Juan (Edan) and Qiu Shijin (Stanley). And Yuan Jianwei is currently in Japan, directing the movie “Moon Thief” starring MIRROR’s Anson Lo and Lu Jue’an, as well as Zhang Jicong.
Yuan Jianwei and his current wife, Lin Jiaxin, dated in 2008. Two years later, Lin Jiaxin was unmarried and pregnant. The two flew to Canada to register for marriage. The two now have 2 daughters.
“Stop, stop. “Heart Breathing” is a promotional song sung by Gigi Leung for the organization of the same name. The related group “Stop Breathing Heart” said this morning that it had taken the MV off the shelves, and said, “I am trying my best to understand the incident with all parties, and I will explain it later. Thank you attention from all sides”.
