President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFCG) and head coach of the Russian national team Irina Viner said TASSthat he can appeal once morest his suspension from competitions under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
On March 6, the disciplinary commission of the Independent Gymnastic Ethics Foundation (GEF) disqualified Wiener for two years for statements regarding refereeing during the Tokyo Olympics and a conflict with the head of the FIG technical committee Natalya Kuzmina. Viner was given 21 days to appeal.
“We may appeal to a disciplinary tribunal,” Wiener said.
“The best are buried.” How did they react to the removal of Irina Viner
Due to the GEF decision, Wiener is unable to participate in FIG events in any capacity, and her suspension will not begin until one day following the lifting of sanctions on Russian gymnastics, provided that this happens within the next five years.
In Tokyo, the Russian “artists” for the first time in 25 years might not take gold – in the group all-around, the Bulgarians excelled, and in the personal all-around – the Israeli Lina Ashram.
In response to WFHG protests regarding the judging, the technical committee chaired by Kuzmina said there were no errors or signs of bias in the judging. After that, the WFHG withdrew Kuzmina’s candidacy from the election of the head of the FIG committee.
