Aquatic mounts are relatively rare in World of Warcraft. However, they can be useful in certain situations. With the release of patch 10.0.7 and the arrival of Forbidden Reaches, some of you may need a mount to swim faster, for example to reach Gahz’raxes before he is killed by other players.
If you’ve played Cataclysm, you all have the Seahorse of Vashj’ir. However, the latter can only be used in the area of the same name. I suggest you find below aquatic mounts that are relatively easy to obtain.
Reins of Poseidus
Reins of Poseidus drops from a rare monster, Poseidus. The latter spawns most often in the Shimmering Expanse but can also spawn in the Abyssal Depths. This means that you have to farm five specific locations and wait for the rare to appear. Fortunately, the drop rate is 100%.
The big advantage of this mount is that it can be purchased from the Auction House. Its price is relatively low and it is regularly found for less than 5,000 gold. If you’re looking for an aquatic mount, this is definitely the fastest way to find one.
Dark Water Ray
Here’s another mount that’s pretty easy to get. You can indeed buy it once morest 500 Crocs-licks by Shadowlune. This is a fish you can catch all around the island during the Darkmoon Faire. Once you have 500 fish in your pocket, go to Galissa Dew of the Sun to buy the Darkwater Ray. It is to the south on the wooden pier.
Of course, the fair must be available, but it’s still a fairly easy method to recover an aquatic mount. If you don’t feel like fishing, you can buy Darkmoon Blade Fangs from the Auction House. Count 10 gold/piece, or 5,000 gold pieces.
marine seahorse
If you still have 500 Battle for Azeroth Sailor doubloons in storage, you can exchange them for a Seahorse Seahorse.
Other mounts harder to get
There are several other mounts accessible more or less easily, but it will often be more complicated than for the mounts above. Among the relatively accessible aquatic mounts, we note:
- Great Sea Ray : A mount that can be fished in Battle for Azeroth. The drop rate is very low but the mount can be found in AH. Count 250,000 gold coins…
- Crimson Tidal Stallion : It is “just” to buy it in Nazjatar, but still it is necessary that the merchant, Mrrl, has it in stock and that you collect the components required to buy it.
- deep sea creature : Dropped on Kosumoth the Hungry via a Legion World Quest. However, you have to unlock the expedition and then wait for it to appear, which can take several weeks.
- freshwater nettle : An aquatic mount that can only be accessed by fishing in the Antoran Wastes. Some got it following 40 tries, others 15,000. Good luck !
- wave jellyfish : A loot from Island Explorations.
There are others, like the Riding Turtle to take an example, but it takes luck and/or a lot of courage to get them.
