Asunción, IP Agency.- A World Bank (WB) mission visited the country this week with the objective of analyzing and supervising the progress of the Transport Connectivity Project that is being carried out jointly with the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC).
The Bank team, led by the Regional Operations Manager, Paul Procee, met with the team of the Project Executing Unit headed by engineer Hugo Miranda and his collaborators, as well as with the different departments involved in managing the activities of the loan.
On the other hand, they also went to the Malla Norte construction site to supervise various aspects of the project related to the works and social and environmental safeguards. Various reviews and controls were carried out there to ensure compliance with the requirements established in WB policies.
The Malla Norte works contemplate the improvement of 148.95 km of routes PY03 and PY08, and are part of the Transport Connectivity Project, as do the Malla Sur works, in the section that goes from San Juan Bautista to Encarnación , currently in the maintenance stage, thus adding the improvement of more than 300 kilometers in order to promote the economic and social development of our country.
The visit of the WB mission represents an important opportunity to monitor the progress of the project and guarantee the correct implementation of the policies and safeguards established by the financial entity, reported the Works portfolio.
