The most successful contemporary tenor Plácido Domingo is coming to the Alpenarena in Bad Hofgastein on July 30, 2023
Graz (OTS) – With the most famous living tenor in the world and “King of the Opera”, the Classic:Summer in Bad Hofgastein, which includes more than 60 events, reaches its climax at the end of July.
The program of this unique concert evening on July 30, 2023 includes a selection of arias, duets and songs from Placido Domingos extensive vocal repertoire.
He is accompanied by Mané GALOYAN and Placido DOMINGO Jr.
The Armenian soprano completed her training at the Houston Grand Opera Studio and has won several international awards, including the prizewinner of the “Operalia” singing competition, which was founded by Plácido Domingo in 1993. Mané Galoyan Guest appearances at numerous international opera and festival stages such as the Metropolitan Opera, the Zurich Opera House, Paris Opéra, Glyndebourne Festival and is a member of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Placido Domingo Regarded worldwide as the “King of Opera” and as the greatest and most successful contemporary tenor with more than 4,000 performances and 150 different roles. The focus of his wide-ranging repertoire is the Italian and French subject with operas by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Georges Bizet and many others. One of his great and world-famous star roles is “Otello” in Verdi’s opera of the same name, which Franco Zeffirelli also filmed with him.
Born in Madrid, Plácido Domingo moved to Mexico with his parents at the age of eight as a zarzuela singer. His musical training began there, including as a conductor, before his incredible singing potential was recognized.

The alpine town of Bad Hofgastein is known for the staging of a diverse classical music program in summer. PLÁCIDO DOMINGO – An absolute world star and a multi-talent
Celebrated his opera debut Placido Domingo in Monterrey as Alfredo in La Traviata and then spent two and a half years at the Israel National Opera with 280 performances of 12 different roles. In 1966 he sang the title role in the US premiere of Ginastera’s Don Rodrigo at the New York City Opera, and made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera (New York) in 1968 as Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur.
Since then he has sung in more than 800 performances of nearly 80 different roles there alone, celebrating his 50th consecutive season (2018/2019). Placido Domingo has appeared regularly in all major opera houses, including La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, London’s Covent Garden, the Berlin State Opera, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Liceu Barcelona, the San Francisco Opera, the Los Angeles Opera, and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires as well as at the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals and in the Arena in Verona.
Domingo’s studio recordings, regardless of whether they are complete operas, arias or duet albums or crossover projects, can inevitably be found in the bestseller charts, and numerous of his albums have been awarded gold and platinum. Since the 1990s – for the first time on the occasion of the 1990 World Cup Placido Domingo together with Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti as “The Three Tenors” and filled the largest arenas worldwide in this formation.
