Evo Morales’s criticism of the government of Luis Arce
Morales (2006-2019) regretted the lower economic movement, lack of employment, decreased public investment and the poor results of some state industrial projects.
“It is important to improve public management. We have to think regarding where we are going to inject money“, recommended the former president following suggest the removal of the economic team from the “orthodox conservative” ministers” who seek to take care of the macroeconomy “punishing small producers”.
Arce, in power since November 2020, responded to the questions with a call for the ideological unity of the party. The criticisms reflect the struggle within the MAS between supporters of Morales and those of Arce.
Morales said he was the victim of a smear campaign from the government and regretted that mayors who are related to him are limited by government resources to carry out public works.
Created in 1995, the MAS emerged in opposition to the liberal economic model and adopted the banners of indigenismo at the hands of Evo Morales, leader of the coca growers. Morales was a faithful ally of the Venezuelan Hugo Chávez and an admirer of the Cuban regime of Fidel Castro.
