Product recall: this Savoie ham sold by Carrefour exposes to a risk of listeria

A batch of Savoie ham, under the “Reflets de France” brand, has been recalled from all Carrefour stores due to potential listeria contamination. This bacteria can cause listeriosis, a disease that can be serious.

The Carrefour brand has recalled a batch of Savoie ham in all its stores due to potential contamination by listeria, responsible for listeriosis, the government site Rappel Conso reported. It is a product of the brand “Reflets de France”, whose raw milk Coulommiers were recalled a week ago due to a suspicion of the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria.

The recall concerns Savoy ham sold in 6 slices from March 17 to March 24, 2023 in 90g trays. The identification number affected by this product recall is: 3245390060907 (lot 210159813). The use-by date is July 4, 2023.

The website Drink reminder specifies that it is requested not to consume these products, to bring them back to the points of sale or to destroy them and contact customer service. A refund will also be possible in store.

Symptoms that can occur up to 2 months following consumption

The government platform also noted that people who have consumed this product and who have fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches are invited to consult their doctor and report this consumption.

“Serious forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women can also sometimes occur. Pregnant women as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly should be particularly attentive to these symptoms,” added Rappel Conso.

Listeria is a bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a disease that can be serious and whose incubation period can range from two days to eight weeks. It is rare and manifests itself in several ways: stomach aches or headaches, nausea, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, etc.

For a pregnant woman, the consequences can be more serious since listeriosis might have an effect on the unborn child. Thus, there is a risk of death in utero, miscarriage, premature delivery or even neonatal infection.
